Your marriage ceremony…
A celebration of love, commitment, family, and community.
A declaration to your friends, family, and larger tribe or society, of your commitment to one another.
An important rite of passage.
A pledge to a different way of being in the world.
“I became an ordained minister 9 years ago in order to help my community and my friends create meaningful rituals and ceremonies for the important moments in our lives: weddings, births and other times we may wish to commemorate.
I conduct legal marriage ceremonies in Pennsylvania and most other states. I’m known for helping couples put together personal ceremonies that incorporate their customs, traditions and beliefs, into a format that is palatable, understandable and enjoyable to their families or larger communities. I think of these ceremonies as spiritual, but not religious. I’m good at the “big picture” of events, from my work as a director and actor, and can design a good flow for the ceremony as well as help folks with the logistics.
I have a broad understanding of customs and rituals from many traditions, and a deep love of music and literature. I’m happy to make suggestions, or help guide you to include any of these in your ceremony.
My fee for most weddings in the Philadelphia area is $425, with $100 deposit requested to hold the date, the rest payable in cash on the day of your wedding. In addition to the ceremony, this includes an hour long consultation, and unlimited phone and email consults. Outside of Philadelphia, there will be an additional travel fee. For couples needing a more affordable arrangement for small ceremonies, my house and garden are available for groups under 6 people. Please talk to me about your needs. I have sample ceremonies I can send you to use as-is, or as a template to create something unique.”

Hollis performed a beautiful ceremony for us. We wanted a small, intimate wedding for our family and friends, but still wanted to have the formal vows and ring exchange. After one 45 minute phone call, Hollis sent us a wonderful, tailored script that included a poem and met our needs. Our guests told us all night how moved they were by the ceremony!
Hollis is great. Me and my fiancé were not sure what we wanted, we just knew we wanted a quick ceremony. We spoke with Hollis over the phone the week before the wedding, and told her about us, how we met and grew as a couple. From that short conversation she married us in the most beautiful ceremony. She wrote a poem about our love, and our parents loved it. I could not recommend her more. She is kind, sweet and you can tell she loves her job. Thank you Hollis, you made our special day even more special.
